Neck Deep

As some of you know, Neck Deep is one of my FAVORITE bands and I decided to do an album review on their newest album.  ‘Rain In July’ and ‘Wishful Thinking’ are both really great albums, but ‘Life’s Not Out To Get You’ is by far the best.  From the sound, to the lyrics, to the album art, it’s all just great.  They have songs for two moods, 1. sad and lonely, and 2. let’s start this pop-punk pit.  If you are feeling sad and lonely, I would recommend listening to:

  • Lime St.
  • Serpents
  • The Beach is For Lovers (Not Lonely Losers)
  • December !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • I Hope This Comes Back Haunt You
  • Rock Bottom

If you aren’t feeling sad and you want to start a pop-punk pit, these are the songs for you:

  • Citizens of Earth
  • Threat Level Midnight
  • Can’t Kick Up The Roots
  • Kali Ma
  • Gold Steps !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Smooth Seas Don’t Make Good Sailors

I would highly recommend people listen to this album, even if you don’t listen to this type of music because it’s super fun to jam out to.  Even though ‘December’ is one of my favorite songs, ‘Serpents’ is by far one of my favorite songs.  The lyrics I feel are really powerful.  “… I gave her my heart, she didn’t want it.  Took it anyway and put a dark spell on it.  Since then I haven’t been the same.”  I feel like a lot of people can relate to it, and not just boys.  ‘December’ is another one of my favorites because it’s really sad and relatable. That’s basically how pop punk works, it’s sad and relatable.  ‘Gold Steps’ is by far the song you want to start a pit in, from the first note that hits, you instantly head bang.

If you like these guys, I would recommend, ‘The Finer Things’ by State Champs.  It’s their first album, but it’s their best album.  Also ‘Copacetic’ by Knuckle Puck or ‘Soil and Dirt’ by The Story So Far.  All of course, pop-punk bands, and for the heck of all things, listen to Twenty One Pilots.  Everybody likes Twenty One Pilots, and I mean everybody.  I have not yet met one person that has listened to them before say that they don’t like them.  The main reason everybody likes them is because they are every genre, except country.
