On Sunday, March 4, the 2018 Oscars took place. The winner of the “Best Picture Award” was the biggest award of the night because it awarded the director, cast, and crew of the movie.

The movie that won was The Shape of Water. The other nominees for this award were: Call Me By Your Name, Darkest Hour, Dunkirk, Get Out, Lady Bird, Phantom Thread, The Post, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. The Shape of Water, is about a woman named Elisa, she is a mute-isolated woman and works as a cleaning lady for the government.

One day, she discovers a lab classified secret, which is a mysterious scaled creature sort of like a fish that lived in South America and lives in a water tank. This movie has also won a Golden Globe award for Best Motion Picture and separate awards for the actors and actresses. The director, Guillermo del Toro, was very thankful in his speech for his win for his movie.

He said, “I want to dedicate this award to any young film maker.”
